The nation’s number one provider of chiropractic software, Future Health, Inc., and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) today announced their partnership to make EHR use and practice management easier and more affordable than ever for doctors of chiropractic (DCs).

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1017, the ‘‘Chiropractic Care Available to All Veterans Act,’’ tonight, putting America’s veterans one step closer to gaining access to chiropractic care at all major Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. The bill was approved 365:6.

A record-breaking settlement has been reached between the American Medical Association, et al. and UnitedHealth Group—the nation’s largest health insurer— for 15 years of artificially low payments for out-of-network services. More than $350 million has been allocated to compensate impacted providers and subscribers, including doctors of chiropractic and their patients, according to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).

The U.S. House of Representatives passed HR 3590, the Senate-passed version of national health care reform legislation, tonight. The final vote took place after a nearly 13 month battle, culminating in a contentious struggle to garner votes from undecided members of the Democratic majority in Congress.

On June 19, 2010, at the annual meeting of the Council of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) in Budapest, Hungary, a new Executive was elected for a two-year term. Newly elected members are: ♦ President: J. Michael Flynn, D.C. of Houma, Louisiana representing the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the North American Region ♦ First Vice-President: Dennis Richards, D.C. of Tweeds Head, New South Wales representing the Chiropractic Association of Australia and the Pacific Region ♦ Second Vice-President: Greg Stewart, D.C. of Winnipeg, Manitoba representing the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) and the North American Region ♦ Secretary-Treasurer: Espen Johannessen, D.C. of Lillestrøm in Norway representing the Norwegian Chiropractors’ Association and the European Region ♦ The final member of the Executive is Dr. Efstathios Papadopoulos of Cyprus, now Past-President, who represents the Chiropractors’ Association of Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

- It is truly an honor and privilege to have been elected President for a 2-year term at the Council Meeting in Budapest. This is especially so given the outstanding Presidents who have served before me, most recently Dr. Stathis Papadopoulos of Cyprus who will be recognized appropriately at the Rio Congress next year. One of my first actions as President was to recommend the formation of a Presidents’ Advisory Council, with all former WFC Presidents as members, so the WFC may have the continuing benefit of their experience and advise, says Mike Flynn, elected new President of WFC, in the new Quarterly World Report.

While President Obama’s summit on health care reform took place just blocks away, chiropractic leaders from across the nation gathered in Washington, D.C. and later met with congressional leaders to stress the importance of chiropractic’s role in national health care and Medicare reform. The group convened as part of the 2010 National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC) with the Chiropractic Summit.

Den internationella ryggkonferensen på SDU Campus (Syddansk Universitet) i Odense samlade 130 deltagare. Europeiska kiropraktorer, kirurger, allmänläkare, psykologer och sjukgymnaster, som arbetar med eller forskar kring ryggproblem, deltog. Arrangör var The British Society for Back Pain Research, som förlagt sin 2010 konferens till vårt nordiska grannland. Mötesrubriken var ”Are we making a difference”?

Öystein Ogre från Norge valdes till ny ordförande för ECU (European Chiropractors’ Union) vid 2010 Convention i London nyligen. ECU har 22 medlemsländer och är den ledande organisationen för kiropraktik i Europa. - Jag kommer att fokusera på några centrala områden under mitt ordförandeskap. Dessa är organisation, forskning, utbildning och kommunikation, säger Öystein, som är den första norska kiropraktor som valts till denna prestigefyllda position.
